Sophie is a 3-year-old white Labrador retriever mix. She was born and raised in eastern Idaho and was adopted from the animal shelter when she was 3 months old. She has lived in Humboldt County, California, for almost two years with her people, Jessica and Brian, and her feline siblings. She's an exceptionally bright and loyal dog who would have made an excellent service animal or rescue dog given the proper training. We always knew she was smart - but we had no idea she could smell an earthquake coming. PHOTO: Jessica Richelderfer
